Our Story

Our story begins in a Peranakan home, where food was never just food. It was how love was shown, culture was passed down, and family came together.

Growing up between Malaysia and Singapore, one of our founders was surrounded by the rich aromas of sambal, spices, and heritage dishes that simmered for hours and stayed in the heart for years. These recipes were taught by grandmothers, perfected by mothers, and shared with everyone who came to the table.

After moving to the Netherlands, the craving for those familiar flavours sparked a dream; to share the vibrant, soulful food of Peranakan, Malaysian, and Singaporean kitchens with a new community.

That dream found a perfect partner. Our other founder; a German chef brings over 20 years of experience in gastronomy, including many years leading kitchens as head chef. Trained in traditional French cuisine and skilled in Japanese fusion, he approaches Southeast Asian cooking with both technique and deep respect. His modern methods help us stay true to the original flavours while ensuring every dish is consistent in taste and quality.

Together, we bring a menu that’s full of bold flavours, comforting favourites, and stories from home. From fragrant curries and hearty rice dishes to street food classics made with care, everything we serve is rooted in heritage and prepared with love.

Whether you’re tasting these dishes for the first time or coming back to something familiar, we hope our food feels like a connection; to culture, to tradition, and maybe even to home.

Standing at the back right is her daughter, the co-founder's grandmother. Their influence lives on in many of the dishes on our menu; from the spice blends to the soulful techniques passed down through generations.
